New for autumn 2011

Penstemon barbatus
Penstemon probably barbatus
One of the few western desert Penstemon that can be considered well-established in UK gardens. Tall slender stems with narrow scarlet hummingbird flowers all up one side. Entirely hardy given a dry sunny place. 1L pots ~ £4

Dierama argyreum
A graceful and hardy white flowering species. 1L pots ~ £5

Platycodon grandiflorus
Platycodon grandiflorus
The well-known Japanese Balloon Flower - one of those plants that’s almost too well known for its own good but usually seen in a rather characterless ‘compact’ form. These will be taller and more graceful and more like the wild species. A strong permanent border plant for almost any site, as long as extremes are avoided. Wide rounded violet bell flowers in summer. A classic.
1L pots ~ £4
